White Christmas or?

It has begun - they have started guessing the chance of a white Christmas this year. Yes, I live in Scandinavia. No, our winters does not necessary mean lots of snow. A lot of times it goes just north of us to Norway, Sweden and Finland or south to Germany.

4% - Chance might be higher. Chance might be lower. What I do know is, that we will see this barometer on the Danish channel TV2 every day until Christmas. And if you ask a Danish child - he/she will have the fingers crossed for a White Christmas. So will I :o)

Snow....

We got snow - not much.... just a little and the first drizzled down on December 25th.

Snowman

We do not have any snow *sigh* does not quite feel like December yet, so have to use alternative means to get a dose of snowman.

I agee, this does not look like snow....

This could have been a snowball - you know one of those kinds with a lot of dirt in them as snow is hardly covering the ground, but you just had to make that snowball.... but this is rice crispies.

Now it starting to look like something - after vast use of white fondant, no wonder Buddy and Co. in Cake Boss have a sheeter to do all the fondant rolling instead of doing it by hand. Call him (or is it a her judging from the hat and scarf??) Melding Snowman. The body - pound cake - cracked when covering it with fondant, so he looks deform - the rice crispy ball is his head.

Here is my result - my first attemt of making the snowman. We discussed with the instructor and we all agreed, as this is actually meant as a cake eye catcher and not the cake itself - body should also be made of rice crispy as it would otherwise get to heave.

 

These are both the creations of the course (4 hours) instructor at Specialkøbmanden - red one is her original one and light blue version was her snowman of the day when showing us how to make the various details.

 

My question is now: will I ever have the guts to eat my snowman? Since there is cake inside, it will not last very long before it starts getting bad.

Where Did All the Snow Go?

... well it melted.... :o(  Hopefully we will get a new batch, so we can have our white Christmas. I did get a little snow in the shape of this sparkling card from Karen

Not only does this card have the cold winterly look outside, you should see the inside!!!

Karen, love those winter dies used inside and the glossy paper, can see that your Sizzix founds it's purpose to the fullest.

Got some goodies with this card, one of them in particular made me laugh and are now in use on my noteboard :o) Thank you Karen and Merry Christmas.

 

It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas

When I woke up early this morning, it was the upstais boy(he is 3 years old) that was up and about playing - well living in an appartment building, that is just part of daily life, but comes in handy when you have actually planned to get up early and work on those Christmas cards. Then realising, that something was missing.... it was very quiet outside...

SNOW!!! :o) Suddenly I felt like a giddy 3-year old and rushed with the breakfast, so I could get out in the snow with my camera. What a wonderful way of starting a day with a 1 hour walk, feeling the crispy snow under my winterboots and with Christmas music in my iPod.

Snow

Woke up this morning with the faint sound of shovels working. When listenen, there was no doubt in my mind! Snow! :o) Jumped out of bed and straight to the window: wonderful, white snow. It is still freezing cold outside, but ventured out on a ½hour walk.

Number of bird feeders has increased, and now two places in the park, supplemented on apples and loafs of bread hanging on the trees. Saw a man busy with refilling the birdfeeders, and gave me a big smile when I said "thank you" to him..... do not think that many people remembers to do so.

Snow Time

Heard that little inner voice early this moning "Hey Ho! Get up and go!".... yes, I know that it is Sunday morning, but there was a machine outside that just hummed "snow...snow...snow" - not much, but just enough to cover the ground.

Ahhh, the fresh smell of snow and the crispy sound of new snow under your feet when walking = one of my favourite times.

Was given some good news during the week, received some wonderful creations from crafty friends and was also out a couple of times with good friends - all needed after a couple of weeks, that drained me from positive energy. Not quite back to my usual self, but think I am on the right track.
